Privacy Policy

LvTaxi ("we," "us," "our") operates the LvTaxi mobile application (the "App"), which helps taxi and rideshare drivers see live staging zone activity in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
If you do not agree with this policy, do not install or use the App.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Account information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Your email address (used for sign-in and account recovery)
- A password (stored only as a salted hash; we never see your plaintext password)
- Your phone number, if you choose to sign in with phone (used only to deliver a one-time verification code)
- A display name you choose
SMS verification. If you choose phone-based sign-in, we send a one-time 6-digit verification code via SMS to the number you enter. By providing your phone number and tapping "Send code," you consent to receive SMS messages from LvTaxi for the purpose of account verification. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency is one message per sign-in attempt. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. We do not share your phone number or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for promotional purposes. SMS messages are delivered through our service provider Twilio.
1.2 Location information
The App is location-aware. With your permission, we collect:
- Foreground location, while you are actively using the App, to show your position relative to nearby staging zones.
- Background location, when the App is not in the foreground, to detect when you enter and leave staging zones so the live count and your wait time can update accurately.
- Background collection continues while the App's "Working" toggle is on, and continues at a reduced rate while the toggle is off so we can still detect zone visits and prevent inaccurate live counts. The toggle in the App is labeled "Off (still tracked)" to make this explicit.
Location data is collected as latitude/longitude coordinates with a timestamp and accuracy estimate.
1.3 Derived data
From your location stream, we derive:
- Which staging zone you are currently inside, and when you entered/exited
- Behavioral signals (e.g., whether you appear to be staging, driving, or stopped) used to filter out non-staging visits from the live count
- Aggregate statistics such as wait times and zone occupancy
1.4 Device and diagnostic information
We may collect:
- App version, OS version, device model
- Crash logs and error reports
- Network connectivity state
We do not collect contacts, photos, microphone audio, calendar, advertising identifiers, or browsing history.
2. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate the App and show live staging-zone activity
- Authenticate you and keep you signed in
- Improve the accuracy of zone detection and live counts
- Diagnose crashes and operational problems
- Communicate with you about service issues or account matters
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your individual location with other drivers — only aggregated, anonymized counts are shown.
3. Legal basis
Where required (e.g., for users in jurisdictions covered by GDPR or similar laws), we process your data on the basis of:
- Consent (for background location collection), which you grant in the operating system permission prompt and may revoke at any time in your device settings.
- Contract performance, to provide the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests, such as preventing fraud and improving service accuracy.
4. Sharing and disclosure
We share information only with:
- Service providers that host or operate the App's infrastructure (e.g., Supabase for our database and authentication; Expo for mobile build delivery). These providers are bound by contract to use the data only to provide services to us.
- Law enforcement or regulators, when required by valid legal process.
- A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to the protections of this policy.
We do not transfer your data to advertisers, data brokers, or analytics resellers.
5. Retention
- Account information is retained for as long as your account is active.
- Location data points are retained for up to 90 days in identifiable form, after which they are deleted or aggregated into anonymous statistics.
- Aggregated zone statistics (counts, wait times) are retained indefinitely in non-identifiable form.
- When you delete your account, we immediately anonymize your driver profile by removing your name, email, phone number, and device tokens; the account is then locked so you cannot sign back in. Historical zone-visit and trajectory records linked to that profile are retained in anonymized form so that aggregate zone statistics remain accurate; these records no longer identify you.
- Your sign-in record is retained in locked form to prevent the same email address from being re-registered. You may contact privacy@lvtaxi.online if you wish that record fully removed.
- Backups containing residual identifiable data are purged on a rolling 30-day cycle.
6. Your choices and rights
You can, at any time:
- Turn off background location in your device settings. The App will still work in the foreground, but zone-entry detection will be limited.
- Sign out of the App.
- Delete your account directly in the App via Profile → Delete account. This action is immediate and cannot be undone.
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you by emailing privacy@lvtaxi.online.
If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you may also have rights to object to processing, restrict processing, or lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest in our database, salted password hashing, and access controls limiting which employees can view raw data. No system is perfectly secure; you use the App at your own risk.
8. Children
The App is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. International users
The App is operated from the United States. If you use the App from outside the United States, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the App or by email before the change takes effect.
